The Watauga Building in Downtown Nashville

by | Oct 11, 2013 | History, My Listings

Introducing The Watauga! This is an amazing historic building in downtown Nashville. I say historic because it is over 100 years old AND it is on the list of President James K. Polk’s mansion, which was torn down before historic preservation enthusiasts would not allow something like that to occur.

Our Seller has a 25 year history with the building. Back in the 80’s The Watauga was a hotel. Our seller worked for the hotel and knows every square inch of the building. Later he was the property manager for the building when it was apartments. He was the guy that got the late night calls with service emergencies and when there were tenant problems.

Why am I telling you all of this? Well because….when he had the first shot at buying any unit in the building when they were being converted from apartments to condominiums….he choose this unit. Unit 99 has always been a favorite for renters and hotel guests alike. It has it’s own private entrance off of the side alley therefore allowing more privacy to come and go as you please.

Unit 99 is 690 sq ft but feels much larger. Recently the owner has installed new hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, and a new granite counter top in the bathroom.

It is a true downtown value as similar sized units routinely sell in the mid $180,000’s. Come take a look at The Watauga. Our listing is priced at $130,000.
