A lot has happened in our country since Nashville was rocked with floods in May. We’ve had the Times Square bomber, record heat, a huge oil spill, Tea Party political upheaval, and continuing economic uncertainty. This year has been a rollicking ride. Lest we forget how devastating the flood was–I’ve made a slideshow of photos that I took in my neighborhood in Nashville. Here was the effects in Rosebank and Fortland Farms. The day these photos were taken I participated in and witnessed a spontaneous act of care and helping out. I didn’t get all of that action in the shots but after many of these photos were taken–volunteers and neighbors acted in concert to retrieve as much of the salvageable belongings from these houses as possible. It was not the type of event that gets “captured” on tv or film but the spirit of that day reaffirmed my belief that we are a good people.
